yes, chef
Reading spiritual stuff doesn’t make you any more spiritual than eating a
croissant makes you a French pastry chef.
The magic is in the practice.
How are you practicing?
Reading inspiring books?
Engaged walking?
Focused flower arranging?
Rhythmic running?
Gratitude basking?
Connecting with family members?
Really sitting quietly, breathing intentionally for a few minutes daily?
Since we all breathe anyway, when I assign it as The Practice (AKA "homework) in a class, everyone can truly promise to do it!
The "intentionally" part sometimes throws people for a loop, but it can take as little as 2 minutes to reset our vagus nerve and light up our parasympathetic nervous system. That's really helpful because it leads to ahhhhh.
Yes, I re-re-repeat the importance of breathing consciously, but do we all do it every day? Sometimes we forget. Unlocking a more spiritual life doesn't always come easy. Luckily, breathing does, especially if our exhales are longer than our inhales.
Allow some depth and awareness into your next few breaths, and send your body back to its natural state of connectedness. Why wait? Try it now!
